I have just read an article saying that fish 'n' chips, Sherlock Holmes and Monty Python have joined cricket, pubs and red double decker buses on a growing list of English national treasures.

What do you think are the British national treasures?

I'll agree with that list :-)
I think it's really great, and worth the effort, that this kind of thing is done because it helps give people a sense of identity and value when it comes to what it means to being British :-)

As to what to add, I suggest a properly made traditional Cornish Pastie :-)
They are beautiful, deliecous and you can put all kinds of fillings in them now. For example, I like the Chicken Tikka Pastie as provided by the West Cornwal Pastie shop chain :-)

English national treasures would have to include Avebury stone circle, The Dorset/ Devon/Cornwall coastal path (yes, even - or especially - in the rain), Hadrian's Wall, the mountains of Scotland and Wales, the inventiveness of our many peoples (of all shapes, sizes and colours), our sense of friendly banter and humour, and the fact that we do NOT have "the right to bare arms", only the right to bare arms. If you see what I mean.
