because there were no new settings made to your computer. if there weren't why would you need to use system restore.

Click on the followings: 1) Start 2) Control Panel 3) System 4) System Restore 5) un-check the box in front of the words "Turn off system restore on all drives" and it will create a restore points for the next time. Right now because this box is checked, you have no restore point at all, other than when you first installed your window operating system!
