So...why cant a movie star make mistakes without people wanting to "boycot" their movies. Cant famous people have personal lives? If you make a mistake can we all boycott your job?

Yes actually, I will. I've heard comments that his anti-semetic statements were just "drunk talk" etc. Well, I believe that alcohol not only loosens your inhibitions and your tongue, but it releases the real you that has been kept at bay. The Mel Gibson that we see when he's sober is the practiced, controlled, self contained front of the real Mel Gibson. I think this is probably true for most of us. But, hopefully, most of us aren't ignorant racists, who spout ugly untruths about a whole race.
He got mad a few months back when his dad was interviewed, and he claimed that the Holocaust NEVER happened. Can you believe that? He acted like his dad was minipulated into making those statements. hmmmm I'm not going for that one. I think the real reason Mel was angry, was because his personna was springing a leak.
I will definately boycott his movies. I don't need to see any movie that bad. Possibly the only way any of us can get our point across concerning this event would be to boycott the movies. The big money behind those movies will get the idea real quick, and find somewhere else to invest their money.

Why? If I see a movie coming out and it seems good and I want to go see it I not going to not see it because an actor is an *** based on something that they said, people make mistakes and say things when they are drunk, true or not, what's in a person subconscious comes out when they are drunk, but Mel Gibson is human, he's just like everyone of us, except he has fame and hundreds of millions of dollars in the bank. Here's a question: Would you not go to a wedding n a church because you aren't religious or you don't believe in God? Get real people.

dont we have freedom of speech in america, does it seem like a bad thing to anyone else that the very documents that this country was founded on are becoming void. if mel doesn't have the right to say something about jewish people then we dont have freedom of speech. the very first thing in the constitution doesn't exist. i find that very concerning. the very second thing. freedom of press. is also now null. you cant write christmas on your own frontyard without a jewish person suing you for thousands of dollars. that is less then freedom people. mel gibson is a US citizen, he can say whatever he wants and write down whatever he wants, he should not have to appologize and he should not be penalized. the same goes for me, and the same goes for everyone of you who lives in the US and great britain, (probably some other countries too but i dont know them all)
( jmiller) "I believe that alcohol not only loosens your inhibitions and your tongue, but it releases the real you that has been kept at bay." (jmiller)
who gives a ****, you have the right to your own opinion. you cant hate someone because they have opinions
P.S. thank you lisa for stating something else that i was going to type. now i dont have to, my fingers are tired enough from all that^.

Yeah i will, I was never a big fan of his anyway but i wont see any of his movies again. Ppl said he made a mistake, i dont believe that for a second, u dont get drunk and suddenly start lying, when ur drunk u lose ur inhibitions and say exactly what u feel, and that's what he did, i would go to a movie made by a racist and i wont go to one made by an anti-Semite.

who cares?????
go watch actors for the characters they play and the movies they are in.......who they are in their personal lives should not come into play. you are trying to be entertained when watching a movie, not deciding if you want this person to be your friend based on their morals and ethics.

Probably not. He screwed up and it will take time for him to get back on track. I will still watch Braveheart from time to time and remember him just like that.
