I saw someone looking at me (in a checking you out sorta way) today and I just blanked her completely. Thing is, I do it to all people I don't know. All I wanna know is, how would you feel if someone you were looking at stuck their nose up at you and blanked you? would you feel upset, hopeless, not care, happy or what?

I don't mind smiling at non-pretty girls. It's just if I smile at girls, I think they'll get the wrong impression (that I'm after 1 thing, which I'm not!)

there is a phrase from somewhere, "treat everyone as a friend until they prove different" it is so hard to do. But, when you catch someone's eyes a smile is usually a start, if you know them or not.
Different cultures and countries react differently, in Spain it is usually polite to greet strangers in the street with a good morning etc, in the Uk this is usually met with strange looks, it never stops me though...to be blanked makes me feel sorry for people, sorry that they have closed themselves off from potential friends

I don't understand, someone was checking you out and you just walked by her? Well, it's not a big deal. Maybe she wasn't checking you out, maybe she saw something on your face or you reminded her of someone. In any case, she probably wouldn't give a sh*t. If someone did that to me, I know I wouldn't.
