Now that she has touched you you are infected.
Sorry, but there is no cure.

Why would you sue your employer? They didn't do anything to you - and it doesn't sound like they had any reason to know ahead of time that this would happen.
You told someone she was ugly? Now the clothing she has control over, her looks she doesn't - just what was she supposed to do about the "ugly" to meet your obviously high standards? And if her clothing was smelly or not appropriate for the workplace, it's the supervisor's job to talk to her, not yours. How do you get the authority to instruct her to go home and change? You said in your question that she is a coworker - if you're actually the supervisor, then it would seem you could have found a more tactful way to say what had to be said, if anything did. If her clothes were just unfashionable or something, not smelly or way out of line for the workplace, then even if you're the supervisor it's none of your business.
Was she out of line to slap you? Sure she was. But it sounds like you precipitated it.

Yeah for real this is BS. Besides you got what you deserve because if you really told a co-worker they were ugly and they were dressed horrible even if it was true then that messed up. I wouldnt have slapped you. I would have punched you in your face. Did you forget ppl have feelings? Probably not because if you have authorization to tell her to go home and change then you must be a manager. Now a day manager are very very rude and unprofessional and think that because they have a damn title that says MANAGER they have the right to say w-e they want.

Unless she has a history of doing that, you don't have a case against your employer. You called a co-worker ugly? Nice...
If you want to push it, you do have an assault charge. Of course she did not head butt you.
I don't know man, I think that was a conversation that never should have happened. But legally we are talking assault. The case against the employer probably isn't there, but a lawyer could tell you better. For a fee, of course...

There is no polite way of telling anyone they are ugly. Frankly you needed to be slapped and sadly enough you can probably sue the ugly person but not your employer unless it has been documented that you have been slapped before by this person.

An employment lawyer will not need the advice of a bunch of strangers on Yahoo to tell you that YOU could get charges pressed on you for harrassing the woman with your comments, assuming of course, that this story is true.

Why would you sue your employer? You insulted someone and you got slapped. If anything you're even with the ugly woman. Your employer had nothing to do with it.
I wager LATINGOD is both stupid & poor. No one smart would say such a thing in the workplace and very few stupid people make much money (pro athlete's & a few others excepted)

Try maybe not being such an as5hole on the job in the future. There are ways to let people know that their attire and appearance are not professional if the situation warrants it, and none of them involve the use of the words "you're ugly" What the hell did you expect? You should apologize to the woman.

There is no polite way to tell someone she is ugly! How rude of you! She could report you! You are lucky she only slapped you instead of getting you fired.
Maybe she doesn't have nice clothes. Maybe she can't afford them. You don't know her situation and shouldn't be so judgemental.

Well first of all if you are not her boss and just a co-worker it was totally inappropriate to tell her to go home to change, however she should not have put her hands on you, I would tell your bosses the entire ordeal and if you are not satisified with the way they handle it you can try to sue her for assault and/or your employer for mishandling the incident.
