Both my daughters are competitive cheerleaders...
yes competitions are nerve wracking.
And dramatic for the losers because everyone tries so hard.
And I definately believe cheerleading is a sport and should have it's own category.
Good luck to you and your team, keep working hard, stay positive, and have a great time!!

Cheering in competitions...eh... that's a sport. Cheering for a football team, basketball team... NO... thats kinda like a sexy hobby. Sorry...I was on the football team, a basketball team and a baseball team...all sports and I know what its like to actually PRACTICE, and practice hard. I've also seen countless cheerleaders "practice".... and no.... its not a sport. Their practices consisted of the squad "running" (walking slower than a one-legged blind man) a "mile" while chatting about boys. Oh...and wow...that practice...of standing in a formation and moving your arms around... ouch... you must have ice your ankles and elbows from all that extreme flailing. Sorry...it's not a sport. Just like Chess isn't a sport. I hate to be so negative...but seriously... this is what it takes to be a cheerleader.
1. Smile alot
2. Be skinny (or at least attractive)
3. Be able to yell occasionally
4. Have 4 fingers and a thumb on each hand in order to grasp a pom pom.
5. Date a football player.
6. Memorize annoying chants that wont stop haunting people for years to come....THANKS A LOT (sarcasm)!
Umm...nope not a sport.

WAS a cheerleader, but didn't compete.
Most people don't consider cheerleading to be a sport, therefore, it's not represented here in the Sports category.
Even thought I participated in cheer, I'm not sure I would consider it to be a sport. At least not at my school it wasn't.

Well, while I was once more youthful I desired to do cheerleading additionally. My dad mentioned "no, I desire you others cheering for you" if that is sensible. I believe it is beautiful unsafe, espn named it the moment such a lot lethal game. Believe me, I realize why you desire to, however there are plenty of accidents within the game! P.S. while I say "more youthful" I imply like 10, I'm best sixteen :)
