I think if you tried to black out the news it would just create a worse problem for the administration.

Firstly, with technology like digital cell phones and internet, keeping information in/out or otherwise controlling it is HIGHLY unlikely.

Ask the Chinese government.

The backlash at home even among those who are sympathetic to the presidents view fo Iraq would likely be quite negative. "What are they hiding?" would echo from every news organization. If you thought they did not like president Bush before, imagine how they would like someone preventing their corportate ratings and profits.

Besides, what exactly would they need to hide?

The US army does not need to resort to terrorism or torture to win against the insurgents. Also, the ultimate victory against the insurgents will be by Iraqi forces, theeUS is only going to stay long enough to get the Iraqi's in a position of stable power, then leave

So no, no blackouts, tempting as they seem.

it is either worth being there to do a job, or it is not and the forces should come home.

OH sure, are we occupying a defeated country? Are their rulers now in charge? Gosh, I just thought we were there to topple Saddam and to bring the Iraqis freedom and democracy . What about our troops? Last time I heard they were American citizens, who is going to impose a black out on them? Yo
You would be my laugh for the day if I didn't wonder, sheet, is that guy making a joke? Cause if he is serious he needs a keeper.

I can't believe you are suggesting the way to win a war that many of us cautioned could never be 'de facto' won, is to 'close' our collective eyes whilst the military go on a murderous rampage. Do you think Iraqis are less than dogs? I am appalled.

When the enemy is hiding amongst the population how else are we to proceed? Don't we have a news black out anyway? Its not like we are getting anything truthful, its just white noise.
