Confront him by calmly asking for your item, object, property back. Once received ; cut the ties. This is your best friend your talking about. When a person has to stoop to the point of taking from you, when all the person has to do is ask, it's time to count your loss.If the person doesn't think you know about it;they are apt to do it again. And no necessity does not justify in this case.....i.e...you let your friend borrow a fishing pole because he is hungry and later you find out he took your best lures without you knowing and he tells you after done fishing. You would be less likely to confront the issue because of the fact he told you. You might be the type
of person who thought about it anyway ( I wonder if he has bait?) and it would still be okay even thought he took the lures without your permission.

first, show him proof so there won't be any disputing over where he did or didn't. if he can't give you a good reason then get rid of him. obviously he's not trustworthy. if it's b/c he said he needed it, give him a stern warning that stealing is throwed. you'd be happy to give him something if he really needed. friends don't steal from other friends and next time you won't be so kind.

Nothing justifies stealing. If he is your best friend, its time to dump him. If what he stole was valuable, call the police if he wont return it. He is no friend of yours..he is using you.
