I didn't, but my brother did, and I don't understand how he could. I think it's really captivating.

No way...it's a good movie. Not one I want to see everyday, mind you, but good nonetheless.

Did you know that Jim Lovel and Marilyn Lovel both starred in it?
Marilyn can be seen as the actress playing her enters the viewing stand for the rocket launch. She is wearing large sun glasses and says something that gets some eyes looking her way when the actress passes behind her.
Jim Lovel was asked if he would play an admirl but since he had retired a captain he deicded he would feel better doing that. At the end of the movie, when they are walking around the Iwo Jima (air craft carrier) and Tom Hanks is talkign about where everyone went from there, you see a officer in white uniform turned to the side and shaking Tom's hand.
That is Jim Lovel.
I have always been curious what they might have said to each othger.

It's a really great movie and tell a great American story with a lot of historical weight. Also has very impressive special effects and the zero gravity shots are true, filmed onboard a plane performing a parabolic dive.
Maybe what your brother found boring is that we all know how the events happened and basically the ending.
Great movie though.

nothing short of miraculous engineering to bring a bucket of bolts back home... i found the story so interesting i overlooked any flaws of acting, directing, script - Funny I was talking yesterday, about the calculations required comparing the model with the actual - when the battery consumption budget was critical... My trucks alternator went bad - i was drivng at night - and that story popped in my head - I have not seen the film in years.

Yeah, I thought it was kind of boring too. It's been a while since I've seen it though. It is a great movie, but sort of slow moving.

I think it is too, although I can see why he may have thought it was. Some people are harder to be moved by movies like that than others. My brother is also like that.

Tell your brother to imagine watching and waiting for that capsule to splash down. Those of us who remember this never prayed so hard in our lives. We weren't bored.

I loved it! some people have to have explosions and gore to be good and dont understand that drama can be just as good if not better.
