They have VERY sensitive ears & can hear many sounds that even a dog will miss! Unfortunately, it is hard to figure out just WHY they will react with the sounds that they use, but it sure does get your attention! I had guinea pigs and my oldest lived to be almost 8 years old! I still can remember that sound & I like to use it in Pet Stores! It makes the employees go nuts! LOL

Most of the time. Get a guinea pig book, any book, but make sure that it has a communication section! Good luck

It depends, if its a loud "Help Me" Squeal then it would mean he is in trouble, but soft cheerful squeaks usually signify affection or calmness/contentment

a guinea pig squeal either means, their hungry, or hurt, or just plain lonely.

most of the time. a soft wheek like sound means he's happy. a pur like thing means he's content. a chattering of the teeth means he's angry, and a loud squeal means he's scared

does yours whistle too, its a riot to hear them, the males usually are the ones who rumble deep in their throats when they are near females.........have fun.........they make nice pets, just keep them ultra clean, and clean food bowls and feed.

maybe but mine used to only really squeel when they were hungry. Sometimes they would squeel "talk" to each other, but not often.
