The horse was a beautiful liver chestnut mustang. His name was Montana Star. He was at the trainers house when it happened. He was in one of the pastures and got cut on something. The cut was 2 inches deep in his leg. It reached his cannon bone. His owner and the trainer took him to Gainsville to an emergency clinic, but they couldn't save him. I'm really sad because I really loved him and I was supposed to show him. I never even got to ride him. I always thought there would be more time. This was all very unexpected and his owner is devestated. She has spent so much time and effort training him and taking care of him. Your prayers for her and everyone who's lives were touched by this wonderful horse would be very appreciated. Thank you so much for caring. It means a lot to me.

Very sorry for your and the owns loss. God put Montana Star the mustang on the earth for a reason, maybe the reason was you. By loving that horse you changed his life. One persons love is others treasures. He died knowing that he was loved by many even you!! My prays are with you to get your joy back about Montana Star, and for the owners!! My prays are with you and the own!!

I know what its like to loe something so close. I had spent 14 years with my horse, training him, riding him, loving him, working with him.... We showed for 6 years together and in that time won an innumerable amount of ribbons. We did everything from Western and Hunt Seat Pleasure, Western and Hunt Seat Equitation, trail class, costume class, western and hunt seat showmanship, barrels, poles, and jumping. This little horse could do anything and everything. In 2004 we went out one morning and he couldnt get up. I knew what it could be and couldnt be. I had it narrowed down in my mind to EPM and West Nile. I was seriously praying for EPM. After one long agonizing night at the vet with a catheter in him, we finally had to put him to sleep. We got the tests back and it was West Nile. I still cry and I still miss him very much. He was the best horse in the world.

Shelly, I am so very sorry for you and this horse's owner, it is always really hard and so devastating when something like this happens (lost one of mine in February). Of course I will pray for the owner, and for you too. He is now in horsie heaven and watching over you both, remember the time you both spent with him and be happy that although his life was cut short, and that you made him feel so very special and wanted for those 4 years, and gave him a wonderful life. I planted a memorial garden for my boy, and every day spend time caring for my roses and watching them grow like he should have been growing.

Prayers for you, the owner and eveyone who knew him. Just remember he's running in horsie heaven and remembering all of you.

Hope that helps. x
