Ok. I have been playing my trumpet for 3 years and have only greased the valve slides like only 5 times. BAD 4 me. :( Now I cant even open my valves and I dont have the grease you put. What can I do to open the 1,2 & 3rd valve slide. I can only open my tunning slide. HELP please.

Okay, if none of the above works, (the hot water bath is the best solution) then you are either going to have to take it to the shop or do it yourself. I do not recommend this following for you because you are kind of an inexperience trumpet player but if you trumpet is really stubborn, then you will need to find two or three ferm sponges or the stuff they use for the spikey sponge or packaging material. You will also need a rubber mallet, a few wedges, and a couple of rags.

For your second valve slide, you will need to needle through your rag and try pulling that way after a hot water bath. For your first valve slide, you take you sponge and put it between the wedge and the curve of the slide (the trumpet bell is facing you. And as softly as you can and as straight as you can slowly tap the slide out. Doan force hard mallet hits, because along with scratches it can bend your slide forever screwing it up. Repeat the same steps for valve slide one as for valve slide three.

The hardest one will be the second valve slide, but fortunately, you doan really need that slide to adjust 5th partial pitches. I strongly suggest getting it done professionally, but that is how Ive unstuck my slides.

DO NOT USE WD-40. It will dissolve the lacquer. If you can remove the pistons, soak in hot tub, then get a thick rag. Wrap the rag around the slide and try to pull. Continually apply oil to slides thru pistons. Repeating process may help.

Be careful that you do not bend or crimp the slides trying to open them. A hot water bath will sometime loosen stuck slides. Or take to the music shop where they have slide pullers that will unstick the stuck slide.
