Should the U.S. get involved in trying to bring democracy to Cuba?

I don't think anyone really answered it well enough. I was looking for something more along the lines of World Bank, International Monetary Fund, and Cuba becoming even worse after the United States' corporate interests pillage and plunder the little island.

YES YES YES
I am not cuban but what Fidel does to his country and to his people is like borderline 'Hussein' Behavior. The US is pissed off with him anyways because no one can visit or tour Cuba and no one can leave Cuba, he's way of ruling is a crock of s***...excuse my language.
SO yes, the US should get involved, Cuban americans are sick and tired.

Has been for many years eg the Bay of Pigs, embargo, and
other efforts. Cuba has sufferred greatly under Mr. Castro.
Why do you think all the Cubans that could, came to the USA.
The Cuban people are the only people in the world that come
into the USA and receive immediate legal status, by federal law.

I Corinthians 13;8a, Love never fails!!!!!

EDIT: Keep it up America, and by the way if you are ever
in IBO city in Tampa, Florida try a Cuban Sandwich. Similar
to a Hoagie or Submarine. Made with Pork, Ham, Swiss Cheese,
tomato, pickle, mayo and mustard, and heated in a Pizza Oven
if you want it hot. The Cuban French Roll has a special crispyness on the outside of the roll, because of Palm leaves
wrapped around it during the baking process. mmmmmmmmmmm, oh yes!

Anyone for cha cha or mambo?

I don't think we have to do anything. The people want a democracy. Cuba use to be a great vacation spot, Hollywood use to make movies there. Then along came Castro. He Let the Russians into Cuba and let them point their missiles at us. President Kennedy had to straighten that mess out. The people are out in the streets cheering now that Castro won't be dictating.
The Cubans are good people and I hope things will be better and you can be sure their economy will improve. It's interesting to learn the history of Cuba when they had their freedom.

"Involved in trying to bring democracy" depends on what you mean.

What is usually meant by this is to commit war crimes such as mass murder and torture, overthrowing leaders we don't like, and general destruction.

These never work. They are wrong. They are why so many people around the world are so p*ssed off at us.

If you mean open diplomatic relations and trade and free talk between the countries, then, yes. It's about time we stopped acting as though Cuba were an immanent danger to the US. We just look silly to the rest of the world and accomplish nothing constructive.

No. Who cares. Since the demise of the USSR Cuba is not relevant in a national security sense. At least not right now. Plus "democratization" seems to be a loose code word for "bomb them back into the stone age" so seeing as how they are not really relevant and have not really done anything bad I would say there is no need to fill the island with democracy love craters. They have a right to forge their own destiny.

That depends. Though I think it would be bad foreign policy and people would get mad. If our goal was to spread democracy in Cuba now wouldn't be the time....

We're involved in Iraq and may have to lend a hand in other places in the Middle East. We're all tied up at the moment and the last thing we want is a militaristic struggle against revolutionaries somewhere else.

Yes, definitely. Though the seeds of democracy are already planted. The downtrodden of Cuba have looked to America as a beacon of hope for fifty years. Democracy will sprout in Cuba and no one will be able to stop it when Fidel is gone.

Are you going to be one of the soldiers that goes and dies for a war that started because of this bs. If not I suggest you shut the F**** up. If people like you want war, then actually go serve in the military and see how it feels. War has never brought peace to any place in this world.

Should or should not won't matter to them. They've been eyeing that island since long before Kennedy.

Besides what country wouldn't welcome the US Government's help setting up a "Democracy". They've done such a great job with it everywhere else.

NO. The U.S. should take care of it's own people first. Have you seen all the billions that are spent around the globe for aid and crap? What do we get in return? Blame for this, blame for that, everyone hates us.
