Though I can't stand to pay nine bucks to see a Hollywood film, I'm eager to see it and'll probably drag somebody to it. In college I studied the Mayans.

I think it'll be interesting to see Gibson's bloody take on the Mayans' religion. Despite the fact that he's a weird Catholic, it's interesting to see a "Catholic" take because the church has in the past had a lot to do with twisting Mezo history (if not just straight up destroying it). Christian social taboos worked on the academia too--for a long time cannibalism and to an extent blood sacrifice were not to be talked about. It was only until recently that we could talk about the Aztecs eating people.

In other words, it should be a fun movie.

I do not see any movie Mel Gibson is associated with. I refuse to give my good money to fund that anti-semitic homophobe's hatreds.
