I live in the valley, sherman oaks and van nuys. I just got a job and gig and want to work and perfect my craft. I need a good teacher to help me. I do prefer those who are brutally honest, I feel that one gets the best out of that.

Any advice and information would be a blessing. If you do reccommend a teacher/class please do include their number and address and and you name so I can let them know who refer me.

Thank you fellow actors.

Larry Moss and Ivana Chubbuck are considered some of the best in the LA area. But there are a lot of others as well. Ask around, go to backstage.com and check the message boards under "Acting Classes", see which names and studios keep coming up. And then audit the class to see which one or ones seem like a good fit. You have to keep in mind that a technique that one actor uses may not be a good fit for another actor. Some people like Meisner, some method, etc. It all depends up you.

Personally, I study at Ivana Chubbuck studios and for me, I think it's a wonderful technique. Ivana has a book out called "The Power of the Actor". It's a great resource whether you end up taking her classes or not. It also will tell you exactly what you'll be learning by taking classes at her studio. It's simple, straightforward and no BS. None of the psychobabble that I've seen from some "acting coaches" - and I use that term loosely.

Don't get suckered in to like the workshop classes. You should really shop around or try looking for a college's class. If I may suggest the Meisner technique. I've heard great things about it, better than method.

Congrats and good luck.

R u in college or high school? I'm in college majoring in theatre. Start off with an Acting1 class, Intro to Theatre class, and Stagecraft. If in high school, they usually have the same classes. But these r the classes u start off with. Good luck!!

Ask the people where you got the gig to recommend an acting class. Ask your fellow actors to recommend their favorite acting teachers.
