In "Pocket Ref" by Thomas J Glover, "earth" weighs 125 pounds per cubic foot.

A cubic yard is 27 cubic feet, so a yard of dirt would weigh 3375 pounds

Seems too high; but oh well, don't we all trust reference books. ;)

To many variables..is it dry is it wet does it have sand in it does it have rocks
