Not this year. 54 and 54 is an improvement though. The pitching is still abysmal and Millwood has been a disapointment this year. Given a good rotation the Rangers would be a dangerous team. They have an excellent offense, good solid defense. Mathews is not the answer in CF though. So he would be a great player to dump on another unsuspecting team for pitching prospects. Lee is in his prime and shores up Left. Infield is well taken care of except catcher. DeRosa in right is a good fit. The guy will play anywhere you want him too, hit well and play good defense. Barajas is not a great hitter nor a great defensive catcher. From the Rangers pitching stats he isn't a wiz at handling pitchers either. Laird has what appears to be a good bat. Good power deffinitely. Hard to say about BA as he's all over the place, but seems to hit better when he plays more. I'd personally try him out at DH this year. Move Wilkerson to center, trade Mathews for prospects (catching and or pitching). Otsuka has been respectable as closer so far. If he turns it up some or at least stays at the same pace that will elimanate the need for a closer.

Crucial things to win. Pitching, pitching, being strong up the center (C, ss, 2b, CF) pitching, good mix of vets and youth, pitching, an owner that doesn't sabatage the team, pitching, a hungry team, pitching and a team leader(s) to rally the team when it slumps. Did I mention pitching?

The Rangers are good at SS and 2b. Thier starter should be a backup and thier backup shouldn't be a catcher. In center Mathews is a half season fluke that might make him good trade bait if the Rangers can find a sucker. So the Rangers need at least 2 starting pitchers, some help in middle relief and new C and CF to have a real shot at the pennent. 3 good SPs with a Pedro in his prime kind of domient ace would make up for a whole lot of other defects. The Braves year after year won thier division with some really mediocre starting 8s much of the 90s. The Braves lived and died on SP. Maddux and Glavine running out of gas every year and the lack of heroics by other pitchers usually meant early exits from the playoffs. For years though the Braves were the best NL team without question and purely because of pitching.

HA HA HA. I don't think so and I'm a Texas Rangers fan. They currently seem to have lost their mind. Can't win at home, can't win at all. And they should be a better team because of the trades. If they even want to make the playoffs, they better turn it around and turn it around fast. But at least the Rangers are better than my hometown team (Pittsburgh Pirates) so there is something to be happy about with the Rangers. Not the worst team in baseball.^@^

It would be tough for the Rangers to go to the World Series when they won't even make the playoffs. Look for Texas to finish 3rd in the AL West. As always, the Rangers have done next to nothing to address their pitching needs.

I don't think many people think the Rangers will even make the playoffs, let alone win the World Series. Is this a joke question? Because it is really funny.

Chow!!

Wishful thinking Rebecca.

I'd love to see my hometown boys to to the Series but it isn't realistic this year. We keep giving away our good players and we still don't have good pitching. The AL West is tight and I don't see the Rangers winning it. If, by chance, they do win the AL West then the rest of the playoff competition will be too tough for them to handle.

I think they could win The West Division.

But I am afraid they won't get past The Detroit Tigers.
