My friend has a Sony CCD-TRV138 and he doesn't think that can go on the computer. So what type of video camera can connect on the computer as well as edit on the computer that can hold Hi-8 tapes or another tape?
(He have a laptop)

Any camcorder can be connected to a computer with the right equipment.

A digital camera (with or without Hi8 tapes) with DV/Firewire/IEEE1394 connections can connect to a computer with a DV/Firewire/IEEE1394 connection.

Get a cable, plug it in, and it will do the rest.

sony do HI8 cameras with DV connections...ideally you need one with DV in as well as out!

Yoiur friends camera will need a something like the DAC100 from datavideo ...look up that on the net. Its a special box with all the right connecetions for you. You will also need a video editing programme. If you have Srevice pack 2 installed on XP ...then Movie maker will do some basic stuff.

Best is Premier Pro....v dear to buy though.

Try Premier Ellements ...great value for a basic editing package
