I think the United States has a bad image both nationally and internationally. I live in the United States, and I love it. However, I think there are some things we should change and there are other things that we should never change (like the fact that we can all post stupid answers or intelligent ones).

Some people only like to look at the bad and never the good. America does a lot of good things. I would like to see the one country that never did anything wrong and has a perfect image. Does not exist.

No, I'd say abysmal (which is even lower).

To paraphrase Roseanne: We are so far from 'poor image' it takes the light from poor image 200 billion years to reach us.

But then if we hadn't spent over a century abusing people all over the world, murdering, supporting torturers (and now doing it ourselves), stealing everything we could, we would have an image as champions of freedom.

I fear that the USA has the same image the Soviet Union had back in the 50's and 60's, I hope we can get back to the USA that the world loved and respected.

yes in some ways, especially grade wise in our schools compaired to other schools in other countries, we are 24th out of every single country there is, that is SAD. we dont even make the top 20 in reading, science and math. the richest country... yet stupid. todays youth is becoming lazy, with the new technology and parents over indulging. our future economy will suffer if nothing is done. Kids today need to get a friggin reality check (for them to get over that they cant have everything they want and stop being so spoiled and becoming willing to work hard) and need to get off their behinds.

No. I think a lot of people really like and admire this country--look at all the people trying to come to live here.

Easy on the self-hating, BillyIdolRules (although I'd guess a moniker like that is a great reason to hate yourself).

I think most of the world has a love hate relationship with us.
We over consume and want everyone to be like us. Yet, I know from personal experience people in other countries like to talk to us and let us know they are on the pulse of our culture (especially pop culture), our economy and our politics.

Yeah, I'm an American in Canada right now and I know that most Canadians think of us as arrogant. I think that most of the world feels threatened by us because we are the most powerful nation in the world. This probably affects other culture's attitudes towards us....and with our attitudes toward them.
