Just seeing if anyone else was able to do this with permission from the nurse or doctor? Ive had sleeping problems before I got pregnant and I stopped taking them when I found out. Anyone have any kid of experience with this? Would they give you a prescription sleeping aid instead? Help anyone?

No tea is a better alternative just watch for certain herbs because they are not safe while pregnant. Celestial Seasonings "Sleepytime" tea worked great for me

People have all different views on this. You can die your hair in pregnancy and you can dye other peoples, there has been no studies done on this so nobody can tell you it's bad for you or it's ok, it's what you think personally. I think that if you get your hair dyed or you dye other peoples hair you should just make sure the room is well ventilated first. I also wouldn't dye my own hair because i've known a few pregnant woman who've dyed their hair and it went darker/lighter or a completely different colour than desired because of the hormone change. There are tons of things you should and shouldn't do, i wouldn't say can't and can because you can do whatever you wish. Eat well, drink alot of fluids - milk and water, get enough sleep, have some exercise but nothing strenous, don't smoke or drink. There is lots you should and shouldn't do, but that's all i really go by.

I'm currently 7 months pregnant and I can tell you that no, you should not take sleeping pills while pregnant or anything over the counter unless recommended by your doctor. In my experince, my doctor recommends only Tylenol. Do not take any medicine that says anti-inflammatory. Hope this helps.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

I am NOT a doctor, but before taking ANY medication, ALWAYS consult a doctor (preferably YOURS) before TAKING ANY. As you know, WHATEVER you take, your baby takes too! So think of it this way: Do you want your baby taking this medicine as well? It will affect the development of the unborn child in ways only a doctor can tell you, so really, wait until you speak to a doctor.
If you are having trouble sleeping, read! Read something written by ANY of the Russian authors of the 1940s and 50s, if THAT doesn't put you to sleep, NOTHING will!

Just keep in mind that you cannot take any meds while pregnant that you cannot give to a newborn baby. You wouldn't give sleeping pills to your newborn after birth so please don't give them to him/her now. What you take your baby takes too. You should never take anything over-the-counter or otherwise without your doctor's consent. Your prenatal care provider usually gives you a list of over-the-counter things that are ok during pregnancy. Please ask and best of luck to you and baby.

Do Not take anything unless you talk to the doctor first. When I was pregnant they would not give me anything for sleep and they told me not to take over the counter sleep aids at all.

Absolutely not. You don't want to be taking anything even remotely like that while pregnant. And any decent doctor in his right mind wouldn't give you one either...if he did...seriously consider switching doctors... I had trouble sleeping in the new positions you have to sleep in while pregnant...but eventually you get used to it...and a few days with no decent sleep will knock you right out ...drug free. Trust me...pregnancy will suck the life out of you...you won't have trouble sleeping for long.
Please please please...just use your head...don't take any drugs you don't absolutley have to while you're pregnant....it's only a nine month sacrifice for you...it could be a lifelong consequence for your child.

My doctor gave me a list of medications that were fine to take during pregnancy. Benedryl which is also a sleep aide was on the list and is fine to take. Just take the recommended dosage. Don't overdo it.

I did it was long time ago , my doctor told me No. He gave me some kind of herbal stuff to relax me not but me to sleep. Once I had relax I was able to fall asleep. It had to do a lot with me stressing . If your stressed that can keep you up. This is known to be true. How long you are up while you are pregnant your training your baby . I didn't listen to a lot of older people and wish I had. I got up at 3AM and stayed Up till about 8AM. When I had my son he got up at 3AM and stayed up till about 8AM. Try to fins out why you are not sleeping so you will be healthy when your baby comes. God Bless You and Your unborn baby!
