Not sure. There is an old footballing cliche that great players don't make great managers. If he is going to be a successful manager, then he needs to have talented players to work with. Players who have the same level of technique that he has, and can understand his tactical thinking and so on.

Look at the so-called great players who haven't made the grade at lower league level: Chris Waddel at Burnley, Tony Adams at Wycombe, Paul Merson at Walsall and Glenn Hoddle at Wolves. Roy Keane would need to manage big clubs with quality playing staff because he probably couldn't relate to lesser talents. It's one thing demanding lots of players like Rooney, Scholes, Lampard, Gerrard and so on, but quite another of a League 2 journeyman who can't even head a ball.

Not sure he has the patience to manage successfully either. He's a very intelligent bloke, no doubt about it, but look how quickly he loses it on the pitch. Imagine him losing it with a YTS lad on the training pitch, demanding more of him than his natural ability can match? Not a good situation. It's no coincidence that Man Utd's form, and especially that of the younger players (O'Shea, Fletcher etc) picked up as soon as Keane was jettisoned from the club. They knew they were free to play, without having an angry monkey on their backs.

Even as a Rangers supporter I have great respect for Roy as he was a dedicated professional. Doesn't always make you a good football manager, however, as has been proven many times in the past.

Roy keane has a fantastic tactical mind but is a bit of a hot head he needs to learn to keep his temper a bit better, but if it doesn't work out with steve staunton i can see him in the Irish job that would be great

No chance. Everybody might respect him but when the going gets tough, he's a moaning, crying little prick. That's fact. Great player in his day, but all he ever did was moan. Remember him trying to front VIera in the tunnel at HIghbury the other year? That wasn't mind games, that was the stress getting to him, the manc ****.

If he becomes the next Man Utd manager and gets them relegated, then he's been a belting manager for me.
