I just saw a show on the preying mantis and I am now fascinated with the Malaysian Orchid Mantis, which resembles an Orchid. I also found out that a Preying Mantis can catch and eat a hummingbird.

1) Chironomidae (midgeflies - larva known as bloodworms)
2) Pachydiplax longipenis (no snickering at the name, this is a species of dragonfly
3) Plauditus punctiventrus (a 2-tailed baetid mayfly)
4) Sisyridae (Spongilla flies - cool looking critters, the larva live inside freshwater sponges)
5) Danaus plexippus (Monarch Butterfly - amazing how these guys migrate to mexico and back each year).

Mexican Rose Spiders (I think thats the name) are lovely!
I'm not so sure about the other 4, I'm a bit scared of things that I can so easily not see and squash!
Also, I like stag beetles, but I've never seen one, only read about them and seen pics
