A friend of mine is expecting triplets in Oct and she must remain off her feet until then. Can you suggest things she could do to pass the time? This is a 28 yr old, first pregnancy and up to this time in her life, a very active individual. We need to help her save her sanity and that of those around her. Rest is one option, but she can't sleep for 3 months! HELP!!!

SHE CAN JUST ENJOY BEING PREGNANT AND THANK GOD THAT HE HAS BLESSED HER WITH 3 BEAUTIFUL BABIES,BECAUSE SOME WOMEN WILL NEVER KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE TO EVEN BE PREGNANT WITH ONE. SO TELL YOUR FRIEND THAT ONE THING SHE CAN DO IS START WRITING A BOOK ABOUT THE PREGNANCY FROM BEGINNING OF THE PREGNANCY AND THEN FINISH THE ONCE BOOK ONCE SHE DELIVERS AND WHILE SHE'S RESTING IN THE HOSPITAL AND THAT WAY SHE CAN HAVE SOMETHING TO READ TO HER BABIES WHEN THEY GET OLDER.

Shopping for the babes online and through catalogs will help her feel involved in the preparation. I would also suggest a pregnancy journal that will be saved for the babies. You may also rent some parenting and baby care videos for her to watch. What to Expect The First Year is a great book for her to read both now and later.

Rest, get her a laptop so she can play games on the computer or get on the internet, visit her often, watch movies, puzzle books, coloring (HEY! It is STILL fun!) books, books to read, teach her to crochet, sew, or something and give her a prodject, board games, deck of cards, and the list goes ON AND ON AND ON!!! Here are a few sites with more ideas and help.

Also most women are asked to lie on their side or be propped up, you can find a her a wedge pillow that can help prop her up and make her feel more comfortable. Also little stress balls can be helpful when feeling stress from having to stay in her bed. Check out some of the sites, they really have some GREAT ideas!!!!

This must feel dreadful for her - please send my utmost sympathy! It'll be worse when they're born - she'll be praying to get back into bed and they'll keep her up!!

Hope one of more of the following appeal:

How about making some "new babies announcement" cards? Collect nice papers, punches and embellishments and make them ready to send to friends. Make them all the same or all different.

Make some jewellery - lots of beading crafts can be carried out in bed.

Design a website of your own - perhaps to display baby photos on when they arrive.

Write a story

Learn to knit (bootees of course!)

Read Moby Dick

Catch up on some phonecalls!

Help friends make arrangements for work/wedding/party/christenings etc

See if anyone will pay for cold call telephone leads/packing envelopes etc

Answer questions on Yahoo

Take up a distance learning course

Build card houses

Do jigsaws (you can get nice big boards for this)

Embroidery/Cross Stitch

Audio books/standard books/magazines

Good luck with the babies - my baby is due in Oct too.

Your friend could read, talk on the phone to family members, do crossword puzzles, drink green tea, use the Internet to find out more information about her children and to see what companies might help her or give scholarships to her children before they are born.

ask your friend what she wants to get done before they are born. in three months she literally won't have time for anything, even sleep. this doesn't sound exciting, but does she have photo albums that need to be organized?

can she go places in a wheel-chair? it's not glamorous, but it might be nice to go out with the girls to the movies, galleries, wherever.

i also birthed multiples. they are six now, and i haven't stopped moving long enough to organize my wedding photos yet. what i would do for someone to tell me to go to my room and not come out until october! i hope you are as diligent to help your friend when they are born, thats when she will really need it!

Reading. Take online classes. Take up watercolor painting. Catch up on movie watching. Take the time to teach herself something like how to build web pages or self learn different software programs.

Catalogue and televison shopping!!! She will want to get ready for the babies and won't be able to go shopping so get her calatogues to all her fav. stores. Also, a laptop computer with internet access (you can rent them at places like Rent-A-Center). Also, get her a book on something like crocheting or quilting so she can pass the time.

what about making handmade birth announcements? She could be doing the cutting and what not, then send them through a printer when the babies are born.

laptop and surf the net
phone
puzzle books
novels

read/sing to the babies (sing them a soothing song and use it once they are born to calm them) worked for a friend of mine like magic

tell her to:
1) have sex with her bf/husband (or make a 'dirty video' for her husb/bf w/ webcam)

2) use a laptop in bed - (take a tour -google earth, shop, etc)

3) design a nursery on the computer

4) join netflix

5) work from home via computer...

6) be creative - & try to have fun
