I had a hormonal coil fitted over 2 years ago, and have only ever had very light periods. However, for the last 2 weeks, I have been bleeding heavily. I have been on some mild diet pills to help shift a bit of excess weight before my holiday. Could this be the cause of my problem??

PLEASE get checked by your doctor. What pills are you on for your weight? They might have something to do with the bleeding. PLEASE> PLEASE see your G.P.

If your regular smear tests have been normal then this is either a failure of the coil with a pregnancy which has subsequently miscarried ( highly unlikely because statistics show that the Mirena coil is more effective than sterilisation !) OR you could potentially have something more serious like a tumour of the lining of the womb. Dont be shy. Get to your GP like yesterday!

Go to your doctor and get checked out. The coil may have shifted or it could be the diet pills. Only your doctor can give you the answer.

Bleeding heavily for more than a week is definitely NOT good. Go to the doctor, honey, that sounds serious.

its probably just a side effect of the diet pill, the coil would have nothing to do with it if you've had no problem with the coil before.

but go to a chemist and ask if there can give you any infomation on your diet pills and there side effects.
