OK, here is my dilemna. I have to pay for august rent. I am being kicked out the 21st. I knew this, so I booked airfare to leave before that day. However, because I am getting kicked out, I figured it would be prorated. They are trying to charge me for the full month. If I were to pay the full amount, is there a rule stating it is impossible for them to kick me out early if I did not sign a contract?

Additionally, if there was a rule how would I enforce it if I wasn't there part of the time?

Your rent is supposed to be prorated. If you pay a full month of rent then you do not have to leave until September 1.

call the local rental board...and besides, who gives a ****? Youre already leaving-dont even pay! If you havent already gotten an eviction-they would have to get that and then give you 10 days to pay, if you dont pay they would then serve you a 'must leave in 5 days' notice. So then you leave, if there is a few days inbetween, rent a hotel-theyre more fun anyways. But ok, say you want to play it straight, no take the total amount of rent and divide by 31, the multiply by 21 ( number of days youll be living there) and that how uch you owe. Call the rental board to be sure for your city, but thats prety much how it work in Canada. And did you know that by law they have to keep whatever junk (as long as its not garbage) for 3 months after you leave if you leave it behind? Free storage!! haha
Oh and BTW, check out mars this month, by end of Aug it will be as bright as the moon. 34.6 million miles away from earth-thats closer then its ever been to the earth and wont be this close again fpr 60,000 years. All aug watch it grow in the sky!!

Your rent should be prorated if the LANDLORDS are asking you to leave early. If you pay for the whole month, you are entitled to the whole month.
However, if you have a lease and YOU are the one who is leaving early because you have a trip, you just want to, etc., then you are responsible for the remainder of your rental contract.
Contact your local or state renters association. If you are in school, contact your university. Good luck.

You should only have to pay for the time you are there and that should be prorated if it is shorter than a month. I am pretty sure they can't do that. Each state has it's own rules. Find out yours and good luck.

Pay your rent, prorated to the day you are moving out. They can't charge you for the time you wont be living there.

Not sure if the landlord or roommates are kicking you out. Either way, you will probably need to pay for the full month. You probably have a month to month verbal agreement and that is "month" to "month" not day to day. Wonder what Judge Judy would say?

If there is no contract just do the math .... Amount of rent divided by 30 days then multiply times 21 and just pay them that amount.

You only have to pay until the 21st if they are kicking you out before that. Unless if your rent is Sept 20 to Aug 21st.
