if you have a painting, drawing, photograph, etc of a chair it is not a chair, it symbolizes a chair. there was an artist who would paint pictures of everyday objects, including a chair, then write "this is not a chair" on it.

if you want to call something a name, then that is your name for it. e.g. you call it a radio, your grandparent would call it a 'wireless'. We have so many names for items, and it is up to you what you call it. I call my computer a 'lappy' (laptop), and i'm sure everyone gives things important to them stupid names, because it symbolises what they see in the item.
