Do you think he's sincere or do you think he's just doing it because of all the uproar?

Since we know alcohol consumption lowers our inhibitions I have to wonder if he revealed his true feelings about Jews. I'd like to believe that he is not a bigot, but I can't help but wonder. His second apology smacks of damage control. I'll reserve judgment until I see if there are any actions behind the words.

I think he is sincere as to making the remarks in public which is very hurtful but down deep I think he is anti-semite which is very sad since he claims to be a Christian and Jesus, Mary, the disciples and the majority of the early Christians were Jews. How can you hate Jews without hating Jesus, etc. Mel needs to get the root of his anti-semitism and maybe by reaching out to the Jewish community, it may be possible for him to overcome it. Also, I love Mel but he needs to grow up and overcome his alcoholism once and for all. He has the money and means to get all the help he needs. He did it once. Maybe needs a good support group but then he will have to be open to constructive criticism and once you get as rich and powerful as he is, that may not be in his makeup. In any case, he has set back the Christian community a few steps and it will take a lot of work to get Jewish people to trust gentiles again.

Alcohol makes people do and say stupid things that are not normally part of their character. On the other hand, he has to apologize if he wants to avoid being 'blackballed' by Hollywood, so we may never know the real truth.

Hard to tell. At one point you think that he was sincere because he is kind, and very sorry, but then you might be thinking he is saying his not to ruin his reputation. But I think I am leaning closer to the fact that he dosen't want to ruin his reputation.

I think that he is not being sincere as alcohol does not change peoples views it only loosens their inhibitions so that their views may be more readily expressed.
