All emotions aside, I know it is hard, but give it a try....being cordial to the ex is the only thing that will set you above her when it comes to the kids. I know this for certain, having been there myself. The kids will each grow up and form their own opinions about their parents, and please note that if you have an openly negative opinion about one of their parents they most likely will form a negative opinion about you because bottom line their parents are what they are, their parents. They don't see all the nasty adult stuff going on and do not understand. When they are old enough to know better it is only then they will respect you and admire you for the stand you took to honor their parent, even if that parent didn't deserve it. It is hard, but you married him, so take him for what he's worth, and he was with her first, so there must have been something nice about her at one time ~ try to look at it that way and see the good. Hold back the anger and vent it when necessary, away from the kids. It has been 17 years for me and I can tell you I wasn't that good at first and my kids still bring that up today and they are adults. I am speaking from experience. Best wishes and prayers =)

The "Ex" problem is not your problem. Your concern is creating a home with your family that is loving and caring. The best thing you can do for the daughter is to let her know she is safe and cared for while in your home. There can always be drama in anyones life, so decide if you want it to control you. I'll guess not. Peace out.
