what is the name of the section/feature on a door that you can open to see who is outside w/o opening the door

We had a peice of glass, about 5inches x 10 inches in the top middle of the door that we want to replace with something nicer that can swing open so we can see who is outside without opening door. Any idea what that mini door, or glass area is officially called? thanks.
