if she is reaching out, interested (teeth or no teeth) give her cheerios! as she moves it around in her mouth it will break apart even if she is just "gumming it". really, she doesnt need teeth.
they are so easy on little ones and she'll love them! (i probably started cheerios around 6 mos. i breast fed for 18 mos and she seemed ready for a food that she could manipulate and eat with us at the table.)

My pediatrician said 8 months. I have given all three of my kids the Gerber "Finger Foods Veggie/Fruit Puffs" they melt MUCH faster than cheerios. I started giving them to my kids at 6 months old. You can get them at Target, Wal-Mart or any grocery store in the baby food isle. I found that my oldest son would choke on cheerios until he was over a year old. Once I discovered these snacks I never used cheerios again.

My daughter didn't start solids really until she was 8 months, so she got hooked on Cheerios at around 10 months. She was late to start solids so if your daughter has been eating purees and lumpy foods, I don't see why she couldn't handle cheerios. It's really your call. But, yes, they are age appropriate.

cheerios always made me nervous because they are hard and round, the perfect size to choke. But yes, 8 1/2 months is old enough to be given cheerios.

I started feeding my son them at about 7 1/2 months. You could also try Gerber's Veggie or Fruit Puffs. They dissolve easier and would be easier for your baby to eat. My son loves them.
