I think something is wrong as I don't get a warning lite to let me know that something is wrong. I have an appointment with our ford dealer in Ridgecrest CA . They said they probably couldn't do anything for me as the warning lite doesn't come on.

That sounds like quite the drop!

Check a few things:

Tire pressure/tread, air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, fuel pump, injectors (they may be clogged) test cylinder compression, sparkplugs (cylinders being fed gas and not firing consume more fuel) head gasket (major, may just leak fuel) check all fuel lines for leaks, tank for leaks.

If they can't do anything for you because a warning light isn't on, then they aren't mechanics. They're computer user wannabes.

Find a good mechanic, and explain to them the lost fuel consumption.

So are you now running the A/C and when you bought it you weren't? That may be the total problem.
