I think the image of Black women on television in general needs to be evaluated. I don't watch a lot of reality tv so I didn't know most of the names you mentioned, but I do know there are not a whole lot of Black women on tv so each representation is important. Negative images in so called reality tv may be more dangerous because at least with scripted programs there is the ready explanation that this is just how the character has been written. I also thinkk that omarassoo person is an exception since she seems like someone lacking in any redeemable qualities and I would never ascribe her attrocious behavior as ever being a factor of her race or gender.

It depends... if the only experience that a kid has with a women of color is on TV, and all of those women are bitchy, what makes him or her think that other black women aren't like that. This stereotype will worsen in rural areas where there are few if any minorities and a lot of prejudice. However, I hope that most people know that there are a lot of bitchy black women, but there are also a lot of very sweet black women and bitchy white women. There are also a lot of great women like Tyra Banks, Oprah, and the women from My Wife and Kids who aren't Omarosas.

I think reality TV is harmful to the image of everyone on it. The so-called induced reality of a TV show, makes the ones watching it think that is is OK for people to really act that way. People watching don't seem to take into account that reality TV is still set-up and is edited to make everything the most interesting whether it really happened that way are not. Things can be taken out of context and made to look so much worse than they are.

No, I don't think reality tv harms the image of black women. For every black woman you named, I can think of 25 white women who were way weirder and bitchier. I think that most people realize that the majority of reality tv contestants are chosen because of their over-the-top personalities, which is not always a good thing. Ironically enough, reality tv is NOT reality.

I believe that it is very detrimental to the views of black women, bc it shows us as loud, ghetto and arrogant, and these images can make a lasting impression on younger viewers. Regardless of these stereotypical images, people shoud NOT believe everything they see on tv. The world has a long way to go.

I guess I never thought of that. There is always a drama queen in every reality show but i never thought of it racially before. No I don't think its the race just the type of personality they are trying to cast.

No. And if it did people really need to reevaluate the manner in which they stereotype others, especially those they do not know by I don't know, not stereotyping in the first place. I've seen enough reality TV, and to tell you the truth it would never have crossed my mind.

I don't think so. There are so many bitchy white women on t.v. that you would just love to strangle. Bitches come in all races and they are all over the t.v. and the tabloids. Alot of bitches on Bridezilla of all races.
