I was wondering if there is a way to tell before you order them or try them on?

You have to try them, and also see what suits your body height and shape as well. The highest aren't always the best.

Take a girlfriend who you can rely on to give you good advice and go visit a shoe shop with a good range, and try, try, try. See how you feel and another opinion from your friend never hurts, as to the look.

Have you ever seen a ballerina En Pointe? Any heel longer than your foot is too long.

Here's a suggestion, go to a shoe store and try some high heels on. At least you'll know at what length you can walk in a pair.

ANY length of heel will become difficult and paiful to walk on after a while. The more practice, the better you'll become, but remember, high, HIGH heels can cause skeletal damage in other parts of the body.

Measure from the center of your heel to the balls on your feet. Then take about an inch off. That is the highest you can go. I can wear heels about 4 inches tall and I wear a size 9 shoe size. You can fine sexy shoes without killing your feet so keep looking if those aren't the ones for you.

It depends on your coordination. Walking in heals is like everything else some are better at than others. If you haven't worn heeal frequently or not at all, don't go higher that 3"

If you do wear them on a regular basis and you want to go more extreme like high stiletto, go to a store and try them on rather than ordering them from a catelog. also if you have a friend who has the same shoe size and has really high heals ask to borrow them for a day or two.

Nope. ya gotta try em on. Thing is, it's different for everyone. I fall over in heels over 2", but I know girls who aren't comfortable in less than 3". look on the bright side...to find out, you'll just have to go to a shoe store and do a little 'field research'!

Try them on because the test is if you can tolerate the pain they cause. And taking a Vicodin to wear high heels is very unwise.

Don't go over the 3" mark! For one thing, they'd be hard to walk in. Second, they'd be trashy.
