Is it me or has Hip-hop really been down in the dumps lately?

Hip Hop will never go away. It is a staple of American culture just like Jazz and Rock and Roll. The quality of hip hop has definately gone down the tubes, but the same thing happens to other forms of music. We need more rappers like Common and Mos Def and fewer rappers making party music.

Mainstream Hip-Hop deserves to die, such as the bling-bling crap everybosy obsessed about a few years back. Now poetic, political, truthful, and real rappers are coming out, such as mentioned above which are, Common, Mos Def, Green Lantern, Immortal Technique, 3/5 Human, Wu-Tang Clan, Talib Kwali etc.. they show some light and thinking behind their words, it is no longer a media mass appeal, it is now becoming real.

the real question is COUNTRY, ROCK and metal is dead all that music is really dead, so don't even talk about rap/hip hop cuz you know that this genre will never die!!!

Hip-hop was wounded when Tupac & Biggie died, & died all together when Jay-Z's last album came out.

Maybe not completly, there's still a few good rappers.
Apart from that it died along with Tupac.
