don't worry about saying it nicely.
say "stop sending me instant messages."
many times people misunderstand because someone is trying to say X nicely - so nicely that the message doesn't get through.

igg their behinds, that way you don't have to say anything. But beware of the ones that will get a new screen name and be like hey what happened I couldn't get you with my old userid. I had that happen, no lie. Dude end up with like 5 of them and was like I'm back. Never did catch the hint.
