I think you have a good point. Ideally, if we have a good president we would want him or her to continue leading us. However, we got to look at the other side of the coin. We may have a horrible president and we sure as hell would not want him or her to continue in power, that is when the term limits come in handy. Furthermore, too much power in anyone can be dangerous. A system of checks and balances whether it be our three branch system in the U.S. or term limits is always a useful tool!

Term limits have basically caused a president to be a lame duck in his second term. It’s like you spend 8 years training someone for a job, then tell them they’re fired.
On the other hand, term limits do prevent tyranny. FDR was so powerful that he was an American King, in all but name. Congress introduced the constitutional amendment limiting a president’s terms to two to prevent another FDR from ever happening again.
Overall, I think they’re good. We would probably have had another four years of Bill Clinton, and that would have destroyed this country!

No matter how much I like Bush as a President I believe it is not constructive to keep him in office for life. Even though it wasn’t explicitly implied in our Constitution the founders all believed in term limits. George Washington could have been President for life if he wanted to. But rather, he stepped down.
I think we need to also extend our term limits to Congress and other national and state office. Rotation is good for the people.

Um, we do have term limits. 2 terms of 4 years. The funny thing about your post is that there are plenty of Bush's left; Jeb Bush, Marvin Bush. So, in theory, we could have another 16 years of Bushs. We didn't vote for our despot ruler now, he stole the election. He himself called himself a dictator who is above the law in every respect. Our Declaration of independence specifically states that it is our "RIGHT and our DUTY to to throw off such Government and to provide new guards for their future security." Let's impeach this maniac before he has everyone hating us. Our deficit is 2 billion a day... that's right, foreign investors loan us money every day and this fool keeps on making money for his friends; to the tune of 70 billion in oil profits alone this year. That is an unprecedented amount of money. Now they're building bases in Iraq to go into Iran. When does it end? Impeach the traitor now!

We should have term limits for all high offices.
I'd say 8 years is OK for the president. 12 for Congressman and 18 for Senator.

It could simply be inertia on my part but I think I favor the current situation. Eight years total seems adequate for one person to hold the office.
I wouldn't mind Bush for a lot more years if he would just shake off some of his annoying liberal views.

I'm not anti bush but yes I do. I think it gives some one to much power. Like judges. I am not in favor of them having a job for life.

Yeah, I think we need term limits, and that this president is pretty much living proof of that need.
