you must heat the zinc or metel you solder to first it must be heated in order for the solder to stick i would use copper for stained glass myself but to each his own

Some people wrap the zinc with copper tape to make the solder adhere better.

Clean the surfaces or use more flux to do it for you...

Tin-lead solder should bond to zinc like ugly on an ape.

try some asid tone then flux and soder
