I know...it's weird, but do you have to be in love to make love, or is it just sex?

It's just a word game, dear. A hundred years ago, "making love" meant sitting in a parlor telling a damsel you thought she was wonderful and asking if you could dare to hope. The phrase only became a euphemism for "having sex" about 40 to 50 years ago, when sex became a topic of conversation in the popular media. Considering that people have been having sex for as long as there have been people, the distinction is not merely of recent origin, but also purely imaginary.

Most sex is good. Sometimes, sex is better than at other times. Sex when you're really in love with someone is frequently best, because there's a special closeness that adds to all the happy hormones that are circulating through your body. Besides, if you really care about your partner, chances are good that you're going to do all the extra special things to each other that make sex superb. It's a clear case where what goes around, comes around.

But at the end of the day (or the night), there is no Big Book Of LUUUUUUUV Rules that says "It's only making love if you're IN love." Which also means you can call it what you want to call it.

However, be advised: Discussing stuff like this in interminable detail is one of those things chicks do that makes guys want to go to bars and talk about sports...

Just sex but that sex could lead to bigger and better things like falling in love, where then sex turns into making love. Although the same thing, its what happens in two different time framesor where you are in the relationship

It's just sex if you are not in love with that person.

I have 3 different categories of sex.....

1. F*cking- everyone loves to be pounded every now and then
2. Having Sex- casual
3. Making Love- soft, passionate with feelings

lol....you can do one or all with the same person at the same time. It depends on my mood..lol....

If you can define "love" you'll be able to answer this question... However, I've never seen an exact definition.

So, to err on the safe side, I would say yes, you can "make love" but not necessarily be "in love". You don't have to be "in love" to share joy and kind feelings for one another.

But then again, sometimes it's "just sex".

I guess, it depends!

Most guys do it all the time. They just have random sex with whoever is available. Most of the time, they're not in love, so, to answer your question, it's just sex.

No I think a sexual act can be done in an intense, loving, passionate way without actually being in love with that person. I guess its all about your definitions.
