Yes, and almost certainly more thoroughly than you (since I didn't confine myself to "official church" sources). Tell me: how does a human governor's order equate to "proof of god?" Answer: it doesn't. The governor probably shouldn't have given that order, it was illegal and pretty silly; however, he felt he had good reason, as mormons were breaking the laws of his state, raiding towns and killing the townspeople, and trying to set up a theocracy (those are also historical facts). I'd bet real money I know your "church history" far better than you do. I also know how much evidence clearly shows many of his claims patently false (such as the claimed translation of the "Book of Abraham," and the story of the Book of Mormon). I suggest you do some actual study of history, which includes ALL sources and not just church-approved ones. Oh, and by the way -- Smith was killed for a variety of reasons, including the local populace's hatred of polygamy, and the fact that they were in fear of the standing army he had (and commanded) in Nauvoo. He wasn't killed because "he had seen god." And he died in a gun battle. (ex-mormon, ex-missionary -- and now rational and educated)
