Senorita Cubanita,

Your dark eyeliner makes you look tired because you need to use a touch of concealer around your eyes or maybe a light pink shade of eyeshadow all over your lids and under eye. The shade of your skin, like most of us Latino's is a bit darker than the norm. If your hair is dark, too it just adds to the "tired" look. On the bright side, we tan oh! so much better and faster and it last so much longer, Try highlights in your hair, like a frame around your face. Wear the appropriate color face make-up and try the concealer or pink eyeshadow as a base for the eyes. Also, don't go from end to end with the eyeliner. On the top you can start at the far end of your brow and as you drag the liner across your lid, ease up on the tension making the line thinner until it vanishes about mid-eye. Do the same on the bottom, but don't use dark eyeliner. Use a color in your eyeshadow palette. It can be the darker one, but try and give it a smudged appearance which blends nicely under the eye. Try these things or at least the make-up tips, It should brighten your tired eyes up!

Ciao!

You're not applying it right. I have the same problem, plus it makes me look kinda cheap, if I use too much of it.

Use very soft liner. For the lower eyelid, apply from the middle of the eye to the outer corner. Follow the line of the eyelashes. Draw very thin line. To figure out the upper eyelid, apply mascara first. This will tell you what parts of the eye need more accent. Apply eyeliner there. After you figured it out, normal procedure would be apply eyeliner first and then mascara.

It also may be that the dark eye liner might be not the thing for your face.

Why it makes you look tired - because the way you apply it you accentuate the dark circles, or the place they would be if you don't have dark circles.

It's too harsh for your coloring. Try a nice shade of brown. It'll
be much more subtle. Or try a shade of PLUM. That should go
with blue or brown eyes, too.

It's hard to explain why this works. It's a whole lot easier for
you to just go to a makeup counter at your local Macy's,
Bloomie's, etc. and ask if someone would help you decide which
liner is better for you.

Some women just don't look good in black eyeliner. I like
black mascara and use it religiously- but know that sometimes
it looks harsh and that I should probably use brownish/black.
But, I don't. I do, however, avoid kohl black liners and opt for
the browns and plums. A deep shade of green is also good.

A professional will help you to find a look that you like. Just
don't be intimidated into buying from the makeup artist if you
don't like it. Tell her you'll ask your boyfriend and be back.

Enjoy!

i guess it all depends on the type of eyes you have. usually dark eyeliner looks good on darker eyes( unless your going for some sort of rock n roll look) so maybe just a lighter shade will look better or just dint apply as much!

Make sure you are applying it the right way. Try not to cake it on becuase that'll make you look tired. And make positive you wash it all off before you go to sleep. If you follow these guidelines, chances are you won't look as tired...

Maybe you're applying it too thick or too long if you're using it under your lower lashes. If it get smudgy, it'll look like you've lost sleep. Try using a shade complimentary to your eyeshadow and putting it only on the outside halves of your eyes.
