Actually, Christ's birth would have fallen sometime around spring - when the census usually took place.
No one really knows for sure how the date of Dec.25 came about. However, one thoery is that the Church "borrowed" this date from the pagan celebration of the birthday of the sun god,Sol, to turn more people on to Christianity. I tend to believe this theory more than others, given the other Christmas traditions (like the Christmas tree) were "borrowed" from pagan rituals.
In any case, Merry Christmas! Peace on Earth, and goodwill towards Man.

One last time, haha.
Christ's date of birth wasnt anywhere near December 25, because during his birth there were flocks of sheep grazing outside. However, in Bethlehem, flocks of sheep were kept inside and covered up during the colder seasons. Christmas is dated on the 25 because of the pagan winter solstice and has no true origins with Jesus Christ's birthday.

According to the book of Luke in the New Testament, Jesus was concieved on Dec. 24th, 6 months after his cousin John (the baptist),was concieved by Mary's cousin Elizabeth. John"s father was a priest in the temple and his duties, as was the custom, was to burn incense in the Temple. His ministration were completed on June 20th, his wife Elizabeth concieved on June 23-24.
SO, Jesus came to dwell with men on the feast of booths-SEPT 29th.

it's not 12/25.
about a decade ago the great theologians of our day decided it was probably jan 6, but they're going to stick w/ the 25th of december.
who knows if it's even A.D. 2006. those same 'great theologians' estimated that the year was probably off by +/- 4 years.
don't believe everything the church officials tell you.
have your parents talked to you about santa claus?

We don't know for sure that Christ was born on the 25th, but the Church and other institutions are recognizing the celebration of His birth on the 25th of December.

One of the things we need to remember is that Paganism is the one of the oldest religions.......in saying that most Christian holidays are very close to Pagan sabbats. They did that for a reasons. It would be easier for Pagans to convert to Christainity if the holidays were still the same. Do your homework and you can compare and contrast where these holidays truely came from.

YHVHSHUA (jesus) pitched his tent among us. John CH.1. This is evidence to show that he was born during the feast of tabernacles. Definitely not on the pagan date of mithraism or christmas, which the catholic church called 'Christ-Mass' only to get pagans and believers to worship on the same days. I.e. sunday and not sabbath...

For starters it is Christ Mass. Created by catholics to celebrate His Birth. It is not Xmas. It is not his birthday. It is a day to celebrate his birth. In all truth we Christians should celebrate it everyday.

How do we know that today is August 2nd? Everything is based on a set of rules that everyone agrees on or learns.
