You daughter probably can do it herself, they usually have better skills than us. Just go to yahoo.com create a profile, screen name and password; if she is under 18 MAKE THE PROFILE UNSEARCHABLE. as there are many child molesters on the internet

Hi Kathy,

Email accounts from websites like Hotmail, Yahoo, or (my personal favourite, since it has tons of space and lets you search through ever email you ever sent or received) Gmail, actually have nothing to do with your internet service provider (NetZero).

Think of it like this: NetZero is like a grocery store, and Yahoo email is like an apple. You need the grocery store to access the apple, but apples will still exist (and can still be eaten) even if grocery stores don't exist. In other words, NetZero just gives you a way to access the Yahoo email site, but whether you have NetZero or a different internet service won't affect Yahoo itself.

I think a lot of the confusion comes from the fact that sometimes your internet service provider (like NetZero) will give you an email account. Obviously, you must have bought NetZero internet to get the email account.

However, sites like Yahoo operate outside of internet service providers. As long as you have Internet access, wherever you are, you can reach your email.

That said, you should not have problems accessing Hotmail. I suggest you check your security settings, otherwise call NetZero and ask them why you can't get to Hotmail. Although, to be honest, I really don't suggest getting a Hotmail account for your daughter. There's a lot of spam and junk mail that doesn't get filtered properly, and in general, it's easier to go with Yahoo or Gmail.

To get a Yahoo account, go to:

http://mail.yahoo.com

Sign out of your Yahoo account. Then on the page it takes you too click Yahoo on the top right. This will take you to the Yahoo home page but you will not be signed in. On the right look for "Free E mail....Sign up" Click it and create a new account for you daughter.

Net Zero is an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Yahoo is a free website and e mail provider. The 2 will have no effect on each other. You must be signed out to create a new account.

Connect to the Internet using your NetZero connection. Then go to http://mail.yahoo.com to get a new account for your daughter. This will not affect your NetZero account. It takes some patience to sign up on a dial up connection.

Go to www.yahoo.com and signup for a free account. Just create another yahoo id if you got disconnceted the first time. Hopefully the same screenname you wanted is still available. It will not affect your NetZero account.

Yahoo Free accounts are just that - free.
Regardless of who your ISP is (Internet Service Provider)
What may have happened is your dial-up may have timed out (disconnected) while you were filling out the application.
Keep trying. Or you can try signing her up on another computer - Yahoo Free accounts can be accessed anywhere...as long as you have internet connection.
Good Luck

The only way is to log on to Yahoo.com and register for free
When you got disconnected did you try again?

If not --Try again -- or sign her up and put a different date of birth so you want need permission --then if necessary set up the parental control option after you register under the false DOB

THIS WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR NET-ZERO ACCOUNT

Hi, you just have to go to http://www.mail.yahoo.com and click signup and then follow the directions to create an account. Yahoo won't get affected if you use netzero they are two separate things.

The ISP will not matter as long as you can get to Yahoo. Go to the main Yahoo page and click on sign up in the email section. Enter in the required information. It is very similar to hotmail. She will be able to access the account anywhere she can access yahoo.
