her recipe for chocolate chip cookies? I swear she buys them at the grocery store. I never find the wrapper, but they are too good to be home made. If she is faking the recipe, should I be mad, it's lying, right?

If you can't tell she's faking it...then have a nice long talk about the importance of being honest...

about chocolate chips. Come on people, if we can't talk to each other about the chips, how can we talk about anything?

Many women find it difficult to make homemade chocolate-chip cookies unless they're really relaxed and feel emotionally stable. Women aren't like men -- guys are ready for chocolate-chip cookies ANY time (and some of us like things a little more exotic... I've got a serious thing for ginger snaps, for example, and there's this thing my wife does with peanut butter and Hershey's Kisses that's just mind-blowing.)

My wife makes FABULOUS chocolate chip cookies, unmistakably home-made, but she can only make them if she's had a chance to relax, have a back rub, sip a glass or two of wine and kick back for a while. So sometimes I have to be content with a package of Chips Ahoy or Pepperidge Farm (I love Raspberry Milanos, they're just fine once a month), and wait till my wife is ready. Fortunately I LOVE to help her make cookies, so I'm always ready to cream the butter and sugar, mix in the oatmeal (it's a little kinky, but try it, it's great!), stir in those semi-sweet morsels, and drop them in big gooey dollops on a hot sheet.

Sometimes I get impatient and eat the cookie dough before it's baked. Fortunately my wife makes a LOT of cookies, so there's never a problem; I just wipe off my face and help her with the next batch.

Oh, and of course, I should point out that we're in a committed relationship, so we don't worry about wrappers. These days, all we have to worry about is making sure the kids don't interrupt us till we're done baking!

Mr. Chivalry says, "She'd be a hypocrite if she gives you a hard time about being honest, while faking you out. Where's the trust in that?"

Mr. Chivalry has spoken.

Look her straight in the eye, and if she can say, "honey, I'm really not faking" without cracking up, then hey! shes not faking!

'OK DARLING, I'M GOING TO GENTLY SPREAD YOUR LIPS APART WITH MY FINGERS AND TRY TO FIND THAT HARD LITTLE BUTTON of chocolate - aha! there's one, on your front tooth! - that proves you've been nicking chocolate chips from my kitchen. Shoo! Go off and mow the lawn or something, while I finish my baking.'
