I am using the free AVG antivirus download plus Kerio Firewall. Will I need any anti spyware/adware besides this?

you should have at least 1 antispyware program ,i have 3 ,avg covers viruses and kerio is just a firewall so at the moment you have no spyware protection, the first program you should install is spybot(http://www.safer-networking.org/),this is a excellent program and will keep you spyware free if combined with lavasoft adaware(http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/)
if you are running a genuine windows xp then you will be able to install "windows defender"(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=435bfce7-da2b-4a6a-afa4-f7f14e605a0d&DisplayLang=en),this will run in the background ,and will inform you if you are infected and will then clean your system of the infection
good luck

I agree with the post on the AVG. It just isn't as good. But its free, so you get what you pay for. There are many reasons, but will advise looking into something that is truly as good as your firewall.

Kerio is next best thing , well now best thing since symantec bought out sygate. Kerio is a good choice for free software based firwalls and top choice by many mobile users that I serve.
Being a UK company, look for them to promote other products as on their website.

Lava Soft Adaware is good. But like most all of them, each is only as good as their latest definition. Many people use many adware kill products. Try many and you will see you get different results.

Good luck

No. Internet Explorer and Outlook (Express) are targeted by those who write spyware (because that's what most people use - and some would argue they aren't secure but are improving) so use another browser like Mozilla Firefox ( http://www.mozilla.org/ ) or Opera ( http://www.opera.com/ ). Both are free. I've been using Mozilla for years and have never had spyware on my PCs.

You are 2 down and one to go. AVG does not detect spyware. Add Spybot and you should be fine:

yes - you are covered by a firewall (although I dont know this particular one) and antivirus - but not anti spyware - try spybot search & destroy and Ad-aware - both good and both free - a quick search on the net should find them - or just get them from www.cnet.com

AVG isn't a very good one. go to PCHell.com and see what they have to say. I use spybot or Ewido. Good Luck

If I were using those I would also download personal Adaware and run it about every week.

you can get the free adaware from this site >> http://www.lavasoft.de/
