Mine were all around 6 months old. All four boys said dada first. My daughter said mama first :) My husband is having a fit, his little princess at 11 months still won't say dada. She is now working on "I love you", it is more of "a la ew", but hey, I will take what I can get!

All three of my kids said DaDa first at around 5 months....then MaMa after that. My first two kids said "Ball" as their first "official" word since mama and dada are easy babbling words. My youngest said BaBa (for bottle) at around 9 months. He was my only bottle fed baby too so maybe he would have said "ball" like the others :)

Well my daughter is 8 months old now, she does a lot of babbling, nothing i can understand. she says mama, but only when she cries so she might not even be trying to do that. ga-ga a lot. i think kids will learn at there own pace, reading to he or she may help, repetition also *good nursery rhymes, my daughter likes when i sing old mcdonald, she laughs when i make the animal noises.

My son is 6 months and he has recently started saying dada. He called me ma one day but he never really says that. I guess dada is easier to say.
