If you really don't want to become pregnant don't have unprotected sex. There's no guarantee. About a week or so (depending on the person) after your period ends is your MOST fertile time. However, it could happen that your cycle is different than most (as mine is) and advice that others gives you doesn't really apply. It's just best not to chance it.

They say you usually ovulate about 14 days before you expect your next period to start. That is really plus or minus at least 4 days. Then, a man's sperm can live for 48-72 hours, which is another 3 days. So count 14 days before you expect your next period to start. Then count 8 days before and after that day. That 16 day stretch is your blackout time when you should not have unprotected sex unless you are trying to get pregnant. This method is not foolproof, but it should give you your most likely infertile time.

The best time to avoid pregnancy is not to have sex at all. Really that makes a whole lot of sense or use all the forms of birth control there is out there to prevent pregnancy but the best form is to not have sex.

you are more fertile 14 days after the first day of your period so you should probably use Protection either way though

there is no best time. you should always use protection whether it be a condom or birth control. if you are not in a monogamous relationship you should always use a condom cause their are too many diseases out there. and FYI i got pregnant the day before i started my period
