You really need to do it following your doc's advice. I have recently stopped taking Cymbalta. At first I started taking a half a dose a day. After about 10 days I want to the lowest dose. When my side affects went away i took one dose every other day and then to once a week then not at all. I feel great now not this good since 14 years ago. I am only on one med. now and I feel like my old self, my pre-depression old self.

When I tried cold turkey I felt like I was drunk all the time, and not the good drunk either. Dizziness, vertigo, nausea and very bad thoughts I don't recommend it.

EASY ATIVAN IS NOT THAT BAD, I USED TO TAKE IT WHEN I WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR THREE MONTHS BUT EVERY WEEK THE DOSE HAD TO BE RAISE, SO I STOP TAKEN IT PERIOD, I DON'T LIKE TAKING TO MANY DRUGS.
IS A USELESS LONG TERM DRUG
AND IS NOT GOING TO KILL YOU IF YOU STOP TAKING IT COLD TURKEY I KNOW, I HAVE ALSO TAKEN OXYCODONE, VICODINE, MORPHINE WHICH DOES NOTHING FOR ME ALMOST, AND NEVER GOT ADDICTED TO IT SO, I GUESS IT COMES DOWN TO WILL POWER, I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LEAVING ANY OF THE DRUGS SOMETIME I USED TO MIX OXICODONE AND MORPHINE, I ACTUALLY DROVE LIKE THAT AND IS NOT A GOOD IDEA, LOL
BUT I ALWAYS ABLE TO LEAVE THE DRUG COLD TURKEY NO MATTER WHICH DRUG IT WAS, I HAVE HAD THREE SURGERY A HIP REMOVE, AVASCULAR NUCROSIS AND OTHER STUFF, OH AND MENINGITIS, MY PRIMARY DOCTOR STILL GIVES ME OXICODONE EVEN THOUGHT I DON'T NEED BUT HE SAYS THAT I SHOULD TAKE IT, I ONLY TAKE A FEW A WEEK MAX BUT IT SAYS THAT I SHOULD TAKE AT LEAST ONCE A DAY.

I just stopped and had a HORRIBLE time. I got nauseous every time I lowered the dose. I did it with my doctor. I halfed my dose, then after 1 week, I halfed that dose, then finally I took 1/2 dose every other day for a week. I am so glad I am off of that crap. Good luck. You won't be able to sleep for weeks, so be prepared for that.

Cold turkey, if it's really what you want you can quit. Then if that fails seek professional help.
