The current release date for the entire world (except Japan) is November the 17th. Japan will be selling PS3s about 9 days earlier than the rest of the world, so we've been told so far.

As with any console release date, you can expect this to slip by a couple of weeks at least, earlier or later.

Currently Sony are having problems making the Cell processor chips, there's a large failure rate in the ones currently being manufactured. This seems to hint at a possible delay, or perhaps stock shortages on launch, which could be even worse than the XB360 stock shortages, although I would expect Sony to delay the launch a few weeks rather than short-ship.

PS3 is out already but it is like $499 or $599 so i would say a couple of years before it goes to $199 and that's when PS5 comes out and you know the name is going to be PS5 because they won't change the name and yes i know there isn't a PS4 you would have to wait 2-3 years for it to be affordable
