They were Carmelites and sang Salve Regina

the Carmelites joyfully sang Sister Julia’s parody of the Marseillaise, defiantly forcing the Revolutionary hymn to proclaim:

“Let’s climb, let’s climb the scaffold high!

“Let’s give God the victory!”
