Head east on the 190/Elgin O'Hare. Take Thorndale to Rt. 83 south. Pick up Rt. 19 east through Bensenville and around O'Hare. Take LaGrange (US45) south to Rt. 64/North Ave eastbound into Chicago.
The 290 is a reasonable substitute if the traffic is moving (ha ha ha ha) down to Rt. 64.

I say you are better off taking the train (Metra)! it will take you into downtown Chicago. If you are trying to go somewhere else in the city..you can take the trains in the city (CTA trains & buses) once you get to downtown. I mean, you're better off this way if you are trying to avoid the rush hour traffic.
Don't let people scare you....go wherever you want to go.If it's during rush hours and everyone is getting out of work, yeah you'll be in crowds and traffic. That's common in any big city!

There are thousands of routes to get you from Shaumburg to Chicago. It all depends on what day, and what time of day you're leaving, and which section of Chicago you're going to.
Avoid freeways, tollways, and expressways durring rushhour. These are designed to get you there faster, so logically one would think that they are faster. But in rush hour they can become so congested that you may end up wasting hours of time and gallons of gas.
Thorndale, Devon, and Irving Park road can get very ugly at rush hour.
Goto http://maps.google.com and look up some alternate routes to get to where you need to go. Don't be afraid to try streets you've never traveled on. Just experiement.

Take public transportation - it is the only sure way to get anywhere since all the expressways are torn up. It is a nightmare! So sit back and let someone else get you into the loop!

A couple of things...inbound or outbound and at when during the day, am or pm? Makes a difference. Are you heading with the traffic or against it?

I stay in a smaller suburb somewhat southwest of Schaumburg in Bartlett. Schaumburg has each little thing, identifying to purchase, eating places, massive site visitors jams, good colleges, good park district, and congestion. i've got lived in Roselle, Schaumburg, and now Bartlett. we've extra land, very almost an acre, and border on a woodland shelter for many much less money than it might value in Schaumburg, finding on what variety of homestead you opt for for. Schaumburg is likewise in cook dinner County with decrease property taxes in part with the aid of companies and Woodfield, and how cook dinner County authentic property taxes are based. I stay in Dupage County, with larger property taxes, so in case you opt for for somewhat serenity p.c.. between the smaller suburbs to stay, which could have larger property taxes. on the different hand, in case you opt for for to be on the brink of each little thing and prefer nightlife, and don't recommendations being in site visitors continuously, Schaumburg is your logical p.c...
